SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team picked up its first win of the regular season with a 4-1 victory of No. 51 Utah on Saturday in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Sophomores Lily Miyazaki and Simran Sethi won the first doubles match for OU, 6-3, over the Utes' Sarah Richter and Alexia Petrovic. Sophomore Christina Brigante and junior Mimi Fotopoulos secured the doubles point for Oklahoma (1-0), winning 6-2 over Taylor Calton and Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa.

“We played very solid at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles today and did not give away many points,” Oklahoma head coach David Mullins said.

Miyazaki added another No. 1 singles win, besting Utah's Margo Pletcher, 6-1, 6-1. Senior Emma Devine gave the Sooners a 3-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-4, victory over the Utes' Brianna Turley. Fotopoulos clinched the match for the Sooners, topping Jena Cheng, 6-3, 6-2.

“Both Lily and Emma got off to quick starts and helped give us cushion with some great tennis,” Mullins said. “Mimi closed out her match convincingly in the end to give us our fourth point. Overall, it was a clean performance and we look to build on it tomorrow.”

The Sooners will close out the weekend and face UC-Santa Barbara on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. CT.
