STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 14 Oklahoma women's basketball fell 73-42 to Oklahoma State on Saturday at Gallagher-Iba Arena in the first Bedlam matchup between the two teams this season.
The Sooners (12-4, 3-2 Big 12) were held to a season-low .255 shooting percentage (12-of-47) and finished just 3-of-22 (.136) from 3-point range against the Cowgirls. Oklahoma State (13-4, 3-3 Big 12) shot .458 (27-of-59) from the floor. The Cowgirls, who entered the game averaging 3.8 3-pointers per game in conference play, also hit 8 treys in Saturday's game.
Maddie Manning was the only Sooner to finish in double figures, scoring 13 points by hitting 8-of-11 from the free throw line. The redshirt junior also led the team with six rebounds. Gabbi Ortiz added in seven points, while T'ona Edwards chipped in six points and two assists off the bench.
Brittney Martin, the Big 12's leading scorer entering the contest, scored a game-high 19 points and finished with 14 rebounds to earn a double-double. Kaylee Jensen added in 17 points for the Cowgirls on 5-for-9 shooting from the floor. Roddricka Patton dished eight assists for OSU, while Martin added in five.
The Sooners struggled offensively in the first half to find its rhythm, shooting 7-of-23 from the field and committing 13 turnovers. OU was held to a season-low six points in the first quarter as OSU jumped out to a 16-6 lead. Facing a 15-point deficit at halftime, OU finished just 5-of-24 (.208) from the floor in the second half.
OU committed a season-high 26 turnovers and were held to just four assists in the loss. The Cowgirls also won the battle on the glass, outrebounding the Sooners by a 39-32 margin.
The Sooners return home on Wednesday to face Texas Tech at 10:30 a.m. CT for Sooner Jr. Fan Field Trip Day at Lloyd Noble Center. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Oklahoma and Fox Sports Southwest.
