Soccer Match Canceled Due to Power Outage

September 04, 2015 | Soccer

NORMAN The Friday night soccer match between Oklahoma and Oral Roberts has been canceled following a power outage. The game is recorded as a “no contest” since it was in the 56th minute when it was called and did not reach the 70-minute mark as required by NCAA rules.

Part of the lights at John Crain Field initially went off right before the end of the first half, but play was able to resume in the second period. At 8:25 p.m. with 34:13 left in the match, the rest of the lights went out. The match was officially called at 9:50 p.m. with the Sooners leading 1-0 on a penalty kick from sophomore Madeline Brem. That statistic is nullified, and there is no plan to reschedule the game.

The Sooners will close out the weekend at home when they welcome UTSA to Norman on Sunday. The match will begin at 12:30 p.m. CT.
