NORMAN – The first visually prominent step in the building project at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium was taken Monday, as crews removed practice field turf south of the Barry Switzer Center.
While the project has been under way since receiving University of Oklahoma Board of Regents approval in March, the turf removal serves a milestone. Monday's work marks a clear and visible delineation of old and new, and reminds every one that comes through that the $160-million renovation is moving forward.

Turf is rolled up, five yards and half the width of the field at a time.
