NORMAN - When the blaze of the Oklahoma summer gives way to the first sporting events of a new season, Sooner soccer is the first team to take the field.
This year, OU will kick off a loaded 2015 slate on Aug. 21 and play on through November as the program aims for its fourth NCAA tournament berth and second under head coach Matt Potter.
"We recruit explaining the vision and philosophy of competing with and against the best, and clearly we have accomplished that goal with this schedule," head coach Matt Potter said. "It will be a wonderful opportunity for our staff and student-athletes to grow and build on last season's success."
The 19-match regular season schedule includes eight contests against Big 12 teams alongside nine total home contests. As in the past several seasons, all home matches will be broadcast live through Sooner Sports TV.

The Sooners are set to host nine matches in the friendly confines of the OU Soccer Complex this season, welcoming opponents to one of the best playing surfaces in the nation at John Crain Field. OU's schedule includes two stretches of multiple home contests, including three in a row from Aug. 30 through Sept. 6 (Arkansas-Little Rock, Oral Roberts and UT-San Antonio) and four straight from Sept. 18 to Sept. 27 (Tulsa, Arizona State, Texas Tech and Iowa State).
In addition to matches again the Red Raiders and the Cyclones, Oklahoma will welcome Big 12 foe West Virginia (Oct. 9) and in-state rival Oklahoma State (Oct. 30).
The Sooners posted a 5-3-2 record at home in the regular season last year that included wins over Oklahoma State, No. 6 Florida, Central Arkansas, Oral Roberts and No. 14 Kansas.
A 2014 NCAA Tournament team themselves, the Sooners will challenge a total of nine teams that qualified to last season's field of 64. Oklahoma's challenging lineup will include both an Elite Eight team in South Carolina (Aug. 23) and a Final Four opponent in Stanford (Sept. 13). Both of those contests will be road matches.
The Cardinal and the Gamecocks made deep runs in last season's NCAA Tournament, with both falling at the hands of the eventual-NCAA Champion Florida State Seminoles.
OU is slated to take on six NCAA Tournament qualifiers in seven total matches from Sept. 20-Oct. 11, including home contests against Arizona State, Texas Tech and West Virginia. The Sooners will also face NCAA qualifying programs in Oklahoma State (Aug. 28, Oct. 30), Illinois State (Oct. 2), Kansas (Oct. 11) and Texas (Oct. 23).
The final listing of the nation's top 25 teams last December (as voted on by the NSCAA) included a total of five teams that the Sooners will face this season. An additional trio of Oklahoma's opponents this season received votes in the final poll.
Stanford finished 2014 ranked No. 3, while South Carolina slotted in at No. 9 in the country to end the season. Three Big 12 teams also captured positions in the poll after a strong year of conference competition, as Texas Tech (No. 14), West Virginia (No. 15) and Kansas (No. 23) each earned rankings. The Sooners knocked off Texas Tech once and Kansas two times during the 2014 season.
2015 opponents Arizona State (Sept. 20), Texas (Oct. 23) and Santa Clara (Sept. 11) also received votes in the final ranking.
Tough schedules have been a hallmark of the Oklahoma program under head coach Matt Potter. The Sooners faced the country's No. 20 toughest schedule last season, facing eight ranked opponents and four top 10 teams. OU logged a total of five victories over teams ranked in at least one top-25 poll last season, including a key win over No. 6 Florida on Aug. 29.
2014 marked a breakout campaign for Oklahoma as the program qualified for its third NCAA Tournament and first under head coach Matt Potter. OU hit the double-digit win total for the first time since 2010 with 10 total victories and set a program record for All-Big 12 honors (six) in a season.
OU will pursue a fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015 and its second under Potter's leadership. The Sooners will look to start the season on a strong note in the Palmetto State of South Carolina, facing Furman (Aug. 21) and South Carolina (Aug. 23).
A stretch of road contests in October's Big 12 schedule will be instrumental in OU's postseason hunt as the squad battles for a spot in the conference tournament field. Oklahoma will hit the road over a span of two weeks, facing Kansas (Oct. 11), Baylor (Oct. 16), Texas (Oct. 23) and TCU (Oct. 25).
"The success of the Big 12 Conference was not a surprise to those within in and it will be as competitive as ever in 2015," Potter added. "We have a good understanding of what to expect and our non-conference slate presents challenges and opponents that will prepare us for the road ahead."
As always, Oklahoma's two Bedlam matches against in-state foe Oklahoma State will prove to be big tickets in both Norman and Stillwater. The Sooners will head to the Cowgirls' home pitch to take on OSU on Aug. 28 and Oklahoma will close its regular season by hosting Oklahoma State on Oct. 30.
OU's match against Oklahoma State on Aug. 28 will mark a return to the Sooner State after opening the season on the road in South Carolina. The late October match will bring Oklahoma home for a final time during the regular season after a four-match road stretch in Big 12 play.
The two programs enter this season fresh off NCAA Tournament berths in 2014 after a split in the Bedlam series that season. OU opened the season at home against the Cowgirls, logging a 2-0 victory for a fast start to the year. Oklahoma State found the equalizing win in conference play later in the season with a 2-1 OT victory.
