NORMAN — Three University of Oklahoma Athletics programs were publicly recognized by the NCAA on Wednesday for posting multi-year Academic Progress Rates in the top 10 percent of all squads within their respective sports.
OU women's golf, women's gymnastics and women's tennis were three of the 24 programs from Big 12 Conference schools recognized for their four-year APR scores through the 2013-14 academic year. All three OU programs posted perfect 1,000 APR scores.
This is the second consecutive year that OU's women's golf and women's gymnastics programs posted a perfect APR score.
Wednesday's announcement is part of the overall Division I academic reform effort and is intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
