NORMAN, Okla. – The final act of a brief, five-game homestand gets underway for Oklahoma baseball Tuesday night at 6:00 pm against Oral Roberts at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

Through the first four weeks of the season, the Sooners own a 12-6 overall record and have won nine of their last 11 games. Junior center fielder Craig Aikin remains a constant in the OU lineup as he has hit in 29 out of 30 games dating back to last season, including his current 12-game hit streak. He leads Oklahoma with a .397 batting average, followed by sophomore shortstop Sheldon Neuse (.343). Neuse is tops in the Big 12 with 22 RBI and leads the Sooners with five home runs and a .627 slugging percentage. A total of five players are hitting .300-or-better. Redshirt-senior right fielder Taylor Alspaugh (.320) and juniors Kolbey Carpenter (.317) and Anthony Hermelyn (.304) round out the group. The OU pitching staff owns a collective 2.81 earned run average. Junior right-hander Corey Copping (2-0) ranks first among starters with a 2.40 ERA to go with 17 strikeouts in 15 innings.

Scouting the Golden Eagles

Oral Roberts is coming off a four-game series-sweep against Dallas Baptist at home to enter at 6-7. The Golden Eagles look to first baseman Anthony Sequeira, who leads the team with a .432 batting average, 19 hits and 11 runs. Catcher Audie Afenir ranks second with a .357 average and 10 runs scored. On the mound, Bryce Howe (0-0) is scheduled to get the start. He has pitched one-scoreless innings with one strikeout in his rookie campaign.

Oklahoma is well on its way to surpassing its 30-home run total from 2014. Through 18 games, the Sooners have gone yard 21 times, including a team-leading five from Neuse, who has homered in four of the last five games. The Sooners rank first in the Big 12 with 21 home runs and second at 1.167 per game. Only a sophomore, Neuse is the team's active career home runs leader with 12. Junior left fielder Hunter Haley ranks second after notching his 10th against Purdue (3/8).

True North!

Junior catcher Chris Shaw is the first Canadian to play for the Sooners since lefty J.R. Robinson (2009-10). He is the first Manitoban to ever play in the Big 12 and one of four D-I players from his home province. Eastern Michigan's roster features two, while one plays for North Dakota. A two-time MLB pick, Shaw became the highest Manitoban selected as they 14th round pick of the Cardinals in 2014. Shaw, whose other sport as a youth was curling, attended Okotoks Dawgs Baseball Academy in high school and was also a member of Team Canada before heading to Midland College.
