HONOLULU, Hawaii – Freshman Paige Parker set down all 15 batters she faced to throw the ninth perfect game in Oklahoma history as the No. 4/3 Sooners (5-0) shut out Hawaii (3-2), 8-0, in five innings to win the title game at the Oceanic Time Warner Paradise Classic.

Parker struck out a career-high nine batters, seven of which were swinging, and did not allow a single Rainbow Wahine player to reach base. She needed only 69 pitches to record the first perfect game by a Sooner since Keilani Ricketts did it against Kansas on March 30, 2012.

Parker struck out the side in the first inning and started the fourth with another punchout. She finished off the inning with a pair of groundouts.

After a flyout to start the third, Parker picked up back-to-back strikeouts to close out the frame. She then led off the fourth with another strikeout. Shelby Pendley fielded a grounder at shortstop for the second out of the inning before Parker tied her personal best with her eighth strikeout to end the fourth.

Senior Lauren Chamberlain made a leaping snare of a line drive to start the fifth before Parker set her career high with her ninth strikeout. Junior Erin Miller's catch in left field marked the final out in the fifth.

Offensively, all eight runs were driven in by newcomers to the team, including the first two home runs of freshman Nicole Pendley's career.

Oklahoma gave Parker all the run support she'd need in the second inning.

Junior Kady Self and Miller got things started with back-to-back singles up the middle. After a pair of outs, Pendley fouled off consecutive pitches while facing a full count before sending a deep drive to dead-center for her first career home run. The long ball put OU on top 3-0.

The Sooners doubled their lead to 6-0 in the fourth.

Miller led off the inning by hitting a triple to the corner in left field, the third triple of her career. Junior transfer Tori Nirschl entered as a pinch hitter for freshman Kelsey Arnold and smashed a single back up the middle to make it 4-0.

Arnold re-entered the game and then stole second. That brought Pendley back to the plate, who turned on a 2-2 pitch and cracked her second homer of the game off the scoreboard in right field.

Oklahoma picked up another run in the fifth when freshman Lea Wodach hit a pinch-hit solo home run to right-center for her first collegiate hit.

Later in the frame, with runners on the corners, Arnold cracked a single to left field for the Sooners' third run-rule win of the opening weekend.

The Sooners return to the field next weekend for the Littlewood Classic in Tempe, Ariz. OU's five-game weekend begins on Friday with a matchup against Boston at 11 a.m. CT.
