Round-Three Results

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma women's golf team finished Monday's final round of the 54-hole Westbrook Spring Invitational tied for sixth place. The 15-team event was played in Peoria, Ariz., at the par-72, 6,269-yard Vistas Course at the Westbrook Village Golf Club.

The Sooners recorded a season-best 10-over-par 874 and finished 23 strokes behind tournament champion Tennessee (-13). Oregon finished in second place at 854 (-10) and Notre Dame and College of Charleston shared third place at 868 (+4).

OU freshman Hannah Wood paced the Sooners, tying for a career-best seventh place out of 82 competitors. Wood logged a 74 (+2) in the final round and finished with a 54-hole 214 (-2).

Sooner Ana Ruiz recorded a three-round 219 (+3) and finished tied for 25th place. The freshman shot a final-round 74 (+2).

Fellow OU freshmen Valerie Tanguay and Rylee Pedigo tied for 33rd place, each shooting a final-round 73 (+1) and finishing with a three-round 221 (+5). The tournament was the first for Tanguay as a collegian.

Sophomore Alexandra Kaui shot a third-round 75 (+3) and finished tied for 54th place with a 225 (+9). Kaui fired a 1-under 35 on the front side Monday.

Sixth-year OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said she liked what she saw from her extremely young squad.

“It was a good tournament for us,” Drouin-Luttrell said. “We did a lot of great things on the course and now we know what we need to work on moving forward. Hannah (Wood) had a great weekend. She works hard and I'm happy to see her play well.”

The Sooners will return to the course March 13-15 when they travel to Mesa, Ariz., for the Clover Cup.
