Holst, who picked up the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honor this week, has led the Sooners in kills in four of the last five matches. She has totaled double-digit kill totals in eight of 13 conference matches.

NORMAN, Okla. – The Oklahoma volleyball team hosts West Virginia for a two-match series on November 24 and 25. Both matches will be played at 7:00 pm with free admission offered on Tuesday night.

Oklahoma is coming off back-to-back sweeps over Baylor and TCU to enter Tuesday at 10-15 overall and 4-9 in the Big 12. The Sooners, which have moved up to sixth in the conference standings, are led in both kills and digs by redshirt-junior outside hitter Madison Ward at 2.99 and 2.62 per set, respectively. In the middle, junior Micaela Spann and sophomore Marion Hazelwood lead OU in hitting at .324. Spann is averaging 2.24 kills and 1.00 block per set, while Hazelwood adds 2.04 and 1.05. Against conference opponents, Hazelwood is hitting .355 with 2.54 kills per set. Senior outside hitter Kierra Holst lifted her season average to 2.64 kills per set, which ranks second among Sooners, after posting 3.53 kills per set over the last five matches. In four conference wins, the Sooners are hitting .299, while holding opponents to a .211 attack rate.

West Virginia has struggled under first-year head coach Reed Sunahara at 5-21 overall and 0-13 in the Big 12. The Mountaineers, who have won just one set in Big 12 play, last won a match on September 19 against Davidson on a neutral floor. Morgan Montgomery leads the WVU attack with 3.74 kills per set to go with 1.80 digs per set. Defensively, Gianna Gotterba has led the back row with 3.62 digs per set.

Last Time They Met

No. 25 Oklahoma took the season-series with a clean-sweep over West Virginia in Norman on November 1, 2014. Ward notched a then career-high 21 kills on a .679 attack rate to lead the way as the Sooners won by scores of 26-24, 25-17 and 25-17. Holst added 14 kills and three service aces, while Julia Doyle dished out 42 assists. As a team, Oklahoma hit .438 to the Mountaineers, .244.

All-Time vs. WVU

The Sooners have come out on top in all seven previous match-ups with the Mountaineers. The two teams first met in Evanston, Ill. in 1999; a 3-0 OU win. Since West Virginia joined the Big 12 for the 2012 season, Oklahoma is 6-0 and has won 18 sets to the Mountaineers' three.

Doubling Up

Kimmy Gardiner leads Oklahoma with 101 double-doubles on the season, which is good enough for fourth most in the Big 12. Ward is second on OU with nine. As a team, the Sooners are second in the conference with 30 total double-doubles. Kansas State leads the league with 41 as a team. Oklahoma is first in the league with the most players to record a double-double at seven.

Big 12 2-for-1

Holst claimed Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and Audrey Alford won Rookie of the Week on November 23. It marked the first time two Sooners won an award in the same week since Sallie McLaurin (Defensive) and Tara Dunn (Rookie) on October 24, 2011.
