NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma volleyball opens a stretch of four home matches in eight days to close out the 2015 regular season on Saturday afternoon. The Sooners welcome TCU to McCasland Field House at 12:00 pm. Admission is free.

Oklahoma snapped its third three-match slide of the season with a sweep of Baylor in Waco on Sunday. The win marked OU's first road win in Big 12 play and the first since winning at UTEP (9/12). The Sooners are 9-15 overall and 3-9 in the Big 12. In the middle, junior Micaela Spann and sophomore Marion Hazelwood leads OU in hitting at .328 and .324, respectively. Spann is averaging 2.25 kills and 1.00 blocks per set, while Hazelwood adds 2.02 and 1.06. Against conference opponents, Hazelwood is hitting .357 with 2.53 kills per set. Redshirt-junior outside hitter Madison Ward averages a team-leading 2.98 kills and 2.61 digs per set. Senior outside hitter Kierra Holst lifted her season average to 2.54 kills per set, which ranks second among Sooners, after posting 3.13 kills per set over the last four matches.

TCU comes into the weekend at 18-8 overall and 8-6 in the Big 12 following a sweep of Texas Tech at home on Wednesday. The Horned Frogs are averaging 3.0 blocks per set, while holding opponents to a .191 attack rate on the season. Regan McGuire leads the league with 1.53 blocks per set to go with 2.10 kills per set and a .308 attack rate. In the middle, Natalie Gower adds 1.27 blocks and 1.69 kills per set. Ashley Smith leads the TCU attack at 2.97 kills, while adding 2.85 digs per set.


Last Time They Met

Oklahoma erased a two-set deficit, but ultimately fell at TCU in five on October 7. The Sooners held an 8-4 advantage in the fifth set and had match-point at 14-13 before the Horned Frogs ended the match on a 5-2 run. Four OU players finished with double-digit kills, led by 16 from Holst. Ward and Gardiner had 14 each in a double-double effort. Ward notched a career-high 24 digs, while Gardiner picked up 15. Ashley Smith tallied 15 kills for TCU, while Regan McGuire posted 12 blocks as TCU totaled 19.5.

Rookie Trio

Setter Audrey Alford became the third Sooner to earn Big 12 Rookie of the Week this season on November 16. Outside hitters Alyssa Enneking and Madison Drescher claimed the honor on September 14 and October 15. Collectively, they are they first trio at OU to earn the honor in the same season. Since the Big 12 began awarding rookies on a weekly basis in 2008, only Texas Tech in 2012 has had three rookies win the award.

In the Middle

Middle blockers Hazelwood and Spann are hitting a collective .326 overall and .303 in Big 12 play. Against conference opponents they have combined to averaged 4.72 kills per set, which ranks second in the league. Iowa State's Alexis Conaway and Samara West lead the league's middle blockers at 5.05, while Texas' Chiaka Ogbogu and Molly McCage rank third at 4.69.

Killer Instinct

Ward leads the Sooners at 2.98 kills per set, including a 2.93 average in Big 12 play this season. For her career, she has 729 kills and 535 digs. Ward is just five kills behind one-time teammate Morgan Reynolds (2009-12) at 734 kills. She is also the first OU outside hitter with 500 kills and 500 digs since former teammate Keila Rodriguez (2010-13).
