The Sooners are back at home next Friday when they host the Wildcats on national television (FSN). The two teams split the season series in 2014 with each side winning at home.

NORMAN, Okla. – The Red River Showdown spills over to the volleyball court in Austin this weekend. Oklahoma visits Texas Sunday afternoon for a 1:00 pm showdown at Gregory Gym.

The Sooners are 7-9 overall and 1-3 in the Big 12 after a late rally at TCU on Wednesday came up short. Oklahoma attempted to mount an enormous comeback after dropping the first two sets. OU took the following two sets, got to match-point, but ultimately dropped the fifth, 18-16. On the season, junior middle blocker Micaela Spann continues her dominant play on both sides of the net as she leads the Sooners with a .383 attack rate and 1.19 blocks per set. Redshirt-junior outside hitter Madison Ward leads the attack at 3.04 kills per set to go with 2.30 digs per set after posting a career-high 24 at TCU. Senior libero Taylor Migliazzo leads the defense with 2.90 digs per set.

No. 2 Texas is 14-1 on the season and 4-0 in the Big 12. The Longhorns' lone loss of the season came in four sets at home against No. 4 Florida on September 5. Outside hitter Amy Neal leads the attack with 4.08 kills per set on a .271 attack rate. Middle blocker Chiaka Ogbogu, who shared the Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year award with OU's Kierra Holst, is hitting a team-high .412 with 2.82 kills and 1.20 blocks per set. Chloe Collins has emerged as the UT setter and is averaging 10.94 assists per set, while libero Cat McCoy averages a team-best 4.45 digs per set.

Last Time They Met

No. 24 Oklahoma was edged out by No. 5 Texas  (11/15/14) at McCasland Field House. In front of the second largest crowd (2.439) in OU history, the Sooners fell; 25-22, 18-25, 25-21, 17-25, 5-15. The pivotal moment came at the media timeout of the fourth set. Texas held a narrow 15-14 lead and finished the set on a 10-3 run and finished the night outscoring the Sooners 25-8 from that point on. Holst led all players with 18 kills, while Khat Bell had 16 for UT.

The last Texas loss at home was to Illinois in five sets on September 14, 2012.

Moving Up the Ladder
