Dao Earns Big 12 Freshman of the Week Honors

NORMAN — Oklahoma forward/midfielder Kaylee Dao has been named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week after recording game-winning goals in back-to-back contests, the conference announced Tuesday.

The Tulsa, Okla., native netted the deciding score in the 87th minute at Oral Roberts before following with the lone goal of the contest in a 1-0 victory at Illinois State. Dao has four goals this season, tied for the most on the team. Three of those goals were game winners, matching the Big 12 lead.

This is the second straight week OU has received a conference honor, with junior goalkeeper Kassidie Stade securing Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week recognition on Sept. 29.

OU is back in action when it hosts No. 4 West Virginia on Friday, Oct. 9 at John Crain Field. The match, which is slate for a 7 p.m. CT start, will be the Kick for a Cure game.
