NORMAN — The Oklahoma soccer team will close its regular season with a Bedlam contest at John Crain Field on Friday, Oct. 30. The Sooners (9-6-3 overall, 2-2-3 Big 12) will face Oklahoma State (9-7-2 overall, 2-3-2 Big 12) at 7 p.m. CT. The match will be Senior Night for Devin Barrett and Laura Rayfield, who will be honored prior to kickoff.
SOONER NOTEBOOK: WEEK 11
1. BEDLAM TIME IN OKLAHOMA
Friday's Big 12 conference game will mark the second Bedlam match of the season. On Aug. 28, Oklahoma claimed a 2-0 victory over Oklahoma State in a non-conference contest in Stillwater, Okla. If the Sooners defeat the Cowgirls this weekend, it will mark the first time OU has swept its in-state rival. The two squads have played each other in two regular-season matches each year since the 2010 season. Friday's game will air on FOX Sports Southwest, FOX Sports Oklahoma Plus and FOX College Sports Central with Bruce Haertl and Abby Hodgen on the call.
2. HOME, SWEET HOME
The Sooners enter Friday's match with a 5-0-2 record at home in 2015. With a win or tie, OU would secure its first undefeated home mark in program history.
3. PLAYING FOR SEEDING
The Sooners have secured one of the eight berths in the 2015 Big 12 Soccer Championship, but their seed is to be determined. West Virginia has clinched the top seed, with Baylor and Texas coming in at No. 2 and 3, respectively. Seeds No. 4-8 will be set after Friday's contests. The tournament will be played at the Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Mo., from Nov. 4-8. Along with West Virginia, Texas and Baylor, Kansas, TCU, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State will join OU at the event. Last year, the Sooners finished as the tournament runner-up to West Virginia.
4. RPI UPDATE
The Sooners come in at No. 50 in this week's NCAA Women's Soccer RPI, the third best in the Big 12. West Virginia (No. 7) and Texas Tech (No. 27) are the only Big 12 squads ranked ahead of the Sooners. Texas (No. 56), Oklahoma State (No. 65) and Kansas (No. 78) are all within the top 100 of the RPI.
5. DEFENSIVE SUCCESS
Defensively, OU is second in the Big 12 in goals against average (0.74) and tied for second in goals allowed (14) and shutouts (eight). In conference games, the Sooners are first in goals against average (0.39) and tied for first in goals allowed (three) and shutouts (four).
SCOUTING REPORTS
OKLAHOMA STATE
• Friday marks the 29th time rivals OU and OSU will meet. The Cowgirls lead the series, 20-5-3. In the first meeting this season on Aug. 28 in Stillwater, Okla., the Sooners tallied a 2-0 win.
• OSU enters this weekend seventh in the Big 12 standings (2-3-2) and 9-7-2 overall on the season. The Cowgirls have eight points in conference play, one behind the Sooners.
• Fourteen different Cowgirls have recorded goals in 2015, with six of those having three or more scores. Nine different players have collected assists.
• OSU statistical leaders: Courtney Dike (5 G, 7 A, 17 PTS), Madison Mercado (4 G, 3 A, 11 PTS), Michela Ongaro (52 SV, 1.11 GAA, 20 GA)
