NORMAN, Okla. – Team World trailed 4-0 in the middle of the sixth and pieced together a four-run comeback before walking off on a single up the middle by freshman catcher Hunter Southerland (Oklahoma City, Okla.) to plate the game-winning run in a 5-4 decision. World won the game and the series, two games to one after claiming the opener on Monday.

Junior shortstop Jack Flansburg (El Modena, Calif.) led off the bottom of the ninth with a single and went first-to-third on a failed pick-off attempt. Team Texas then got a crucial strikeout before a pair of intentional walks to load the bases with one away. Southerland was first-pitch swinging for his second hit of the day. He went 2-for-2 with a run, RBI, hit-by-pitch, walk and a sacrifice-bunt.

Texas got on the board in the top of the second on a solo home run to left by freshman first baseman Chris Andritsos (The Woodlands, Texas). Freshman center fielder Steele Walker (Prosper, Texas) added a solo shot of his own with a homer to right.

In the top of the sixth, junior catcher Renae Martinez (San Pedro, Calif.) singled and scored on a two-out double down the right field line by freshman second baseman Thomas Hughes (Norman, Okla.). Senior left fielder Hunter Haley (Nacogdoches, Texas) pushed Team Texas' lead to 4-0 with a RBI-single up the middle that drove in Hughes.

Freshman right-hander Connor Berry (Sugar Land, Texas) tossed five-shutout innings to start the game for Team Texas. He was lifted with one down and one on in the bottom of the sixth. Team World's comeback began with a two-run triple from redshirt-freshman designated hitter Chandler Wagoner (Temecula, Calif.). Berry's wound up taking a no-decision in 5.1 innings of work with one run allowed on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

World plated a run in the seventh as junior left fielder Reggie Wright (Choctaw, Okla.) led off the inning with a single to center field. He was sacrificed to second and went to third on a groundball to first. A wild pitch brought Wright home and the deficit was cut to one. Freshman right fielder Blake Brewster (Moore, Okla.) led off the bottom of the eighth with a single deep in the hole at third and moved to third on a bunt-single/E4 from Southerland. First-pitch swinging, Wagoner drove in the game-tying run with a single up the middle to bring Brewster across home plate.

Freshman right-hander Ryan Madden (Boulder, Colo.), who started the game at first base, moved to the mound with two outs and two on in the top of the eighth. He got Team World out of the jam on just two pitches and stayed on to toss the ninth. Madden (1-0) put Team Texas down in order to set up a chance for the walk-off and become the pitcher of record on the long-side.

Andritsos (0-1) took the loss in 1.1 innings of relief. He surrendered one unearned run on three hits and two walks to go with two strikeouts.

For Team World, freshman righty Kyle Tyler (Oklahoma City, Okla.) got a no-decision in a four-inning start. He scattered three hits and three walks to allow just one run on three strikeouts. Freshman RHP Dylan Grove (Oklahoma City, Okla.) pitched two crucial innings of middle-relief to keep World in the game. He kept Texas off the board; giving up two hits and a walk.

Andritsos finished the series hitting .500 (7-for-14), while Haley hit .429 (6-for-14) with a team-high four RBI.
