The Oklahoma women's basketball team looks for the season sweep of Texas Thursday. The Sooners, ranked 24th, battle the 13th-ranked Longhorns in Austin. The game is set for 6 p.m. and can be seen on FOX Sports 1.

OU HAS HOT START IN BIG 12 PLAY

The Oklahoma Sooners have started the Big 12 Conference season with a perfect 7-0 record. It is the first time since the 2008-09 season the Sooners have won the first five contests in league. OU ended that year with a near-perfect record of 15-1 in league action, won the Big 12 Regular Season Championship and earned a trip to their second NCAA Tournament Final Four. OU is also on a seven-game winning streak, dating back its Dec. 30 win over Yale. The Sooners last won seven games in a row during the 2012-13 season (Nov. 18-Dec. 6).

STARS EMERGE IN BIG 12 PLAY:

Gioya Carter BREAKS OUT: Sophomore guard Gioya Carter has emerged as a star in Big 12 play. Carter, who averaged only 6.3 points a game in pre-conference play, is leading Oklahoma in league action, averaging an impressive 18.0 points per contest. She has registered double-figure games in six of the seven conference contests, and reached her career-high in points twice. Carter scored a career-high 24 points against West Virginia, Jan. 4 and tallied 24 at TCU, Jan. 17. She is also one of three Sooners shooting over 50.0 percent in Big 12 play (53.7 percent).

Kaylon Williams ON FIRE: Kaylon Williams is shooting a blazing 62.5 percent from the field in Big 12 action, sinking a league-best 35of-56. She has registered double-doubles in two of the seven league games and hit double-figure points in all but three. In the Sooners win at TCU, Williams scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds.

Peyton Little FINDING HER GROOVE: Redshirt sophomore Peyton Little has become more consistent in Big 12 play. The guard has scored double-figure points in four of seven league games, leads the team in steals with 17 and is fifth in rebounds per game at 4.1. Little also recorded her first career double-double against then-fourth ranked Texas. She finished with 13 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.

Maddie Manning PLAYING BIG MINUTES: Redshirt sophomore Maddie Manning has increased both her playing time and production in Big 12 action. The guard is coming off the bench and averaging 6.8 points per contest in 15.8 minutes. She has hit a team-best 24 free throws and has gone to the charity stripe 30 times, second most on the team. She also has blocked a team-tying high seven shots.

EIGHT

Oklahoma is on an eight game winning streak, dating back to its Dec. 30 win over Yale. The eight straight wins is also the eighth-longest winning streak of the season right now in NCAA Division I. South Carolina leads the way with 19 consecutive victories. The longest previous winning streak prior to this eight game win streak for OU was during the 2012-13 season when they rattled off seven games in a row (Nov. 18-Dec. 6). Oklahoma's longest winning streak in school history is 20 games. The Sooners won 20 straight contests during the 2008-09 campaign.

TENTH

Oklahoma is currently ranked 10th in the nation - and second in the Big 12 - in field goal percentage, hitting 45.9 percent from the field. The Sooners are also 20th in scoring offense, averaging 77.2 points a contest, 55th in three-point field goal percentage (34.9 percent), 59th in scoring margin (9.8), 64th in 3-point field goals per game (6.7) and 87th in assists (14.4).

SOONERS FINALLY RANKED

Eight straight victories, including starting Big 12 Conference play a perfect 7-0, has propelled the Oklahoma women's basketball team into the Associated Press Top 25 for the first time this season. The Sooners checked in at No. 24 Monday after receiving 73 votes.

PREVIEWING TEXAS

Thirteenth-ranked Texas was dealt a big blow nearly a week and a half ago when senior Nneka Ememkpali - the Longhorns leading scorer and rebounder - tore her ACL in their contest against Baylor. The injury ended her collegiate career. Ememkpali was averaging a team-best 12.4 points and 10.4 rebounds prior to the season-ending injury. UT's Kelsey Lang - another 6-5 center - is now the squad's leading scorer at 10.6 points and 6.2 boards a contest.

The Longhorns opened the season winning their first 13 contests and have since lost four of five contests. Their lone victory in the last five-game stretch was a 55-44 win over Texas Tech. They are on a two-game losing skid with loses at Baylor (75-58) and against Iowa State (58-57). This will be the second game between Oklahoma and Texas this season.

What the Longhorns returned: The Longhorns returned 10 letterwinners, including four starters, from a squad that went 23-12 overall and 11-7 in the Big 12 a year ago. After tying for third in the league, Texas went on to reach its sixth NCAA Tournament in seven years. Texas also boasts the Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year Ariel Atkins.

OKLAHOMA-TEXAS SERIES

Texas leads the all-time series with Oklahoma 25-23. The Sooners upset the then-No. 4/5 Longhorns in Norman, Okla., 70-59 on Jan. 14 in the first meeting between the two schools. Texas won two of the three meetings a season ago. The Longhorns defeated the Sooners 79-74 in overtime in Austin, Texas and earned the 82-72 win over OU in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament. Oklahoma did grab the exciting 64-63 win in Norman with Morgan Hook sinking the two crucial free throws with four ticks remaining.
