King Remains in Quest for Super Bowl
Six former Sooners entered the Divisional Weekend with a chance at the Super Bowl, but as play moves to the conference championship games, only one remains.
Defensive end David King and the Seattle Seahawks defeated Frank Alexander and the Carolina Panthers, 31-17, to move on the NFC Championship Game. King played in the contest but did not record any stats, while Alexander was made inactive by the Panthers.
The NFC title game will pit Seattle against the Green Bay Packers, which defeated a pair of former Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys to get there. Kickoff for the conference title game is Sunday at 2:05 p.m. on FOX.
In a 26-21 loss to the Packers, DeMarco Murray ran for 123 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries and caught one pass for five yards. In addition, James Hanna saw playing time but did not record any stats.
Murray scored from one-yard out to push the Dallas lead from 14-13 to 21-13 with just over four minutes remaining in the third quarter. However, that would be the final points for the Cowboys on the day as the Packers scored the contest's final 13 points to record the win.
In the AFC, defensive tackle Casey Walker and the Baltimore Ravens lost to the New England Patriots, 35-31. Walker, however, was made inactive for the loss.
Meanwhile, linebacker Corey Nelson and the Denver Broncos were upset by the Indianapolis Colts, 24-13. Nelson had one tackle on special teams in the loss.
The Patriots and Colts meet for the AFC title Sunday at 5:40 p.m. CT on CBS.
