NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma volleyball coach Santiago Restrepo has announced the signing of Audrey Alford, Madison Drescher and Alyssa Enneking to National Letters of Intent for the upcoming 2015 season. The Sooners also welcome walk-on Rachel Manriquez, a transfer from Iowa State, who has enrolled at OU for the spring semester.

”Overall, I think this recruiting class is going to make a significant impact in our program, whether it is right away or in the years to come,” stated Restrepo. “They are extremely gifted athletes with a lot of potential to be successful in our league. All three of them are going to add a lot of depth to our team.”

Audrey Alford | S | 5-9
Norman, Okla. | Southlake Carrol HS/ Norman North HS

Audrey Alford

Alford joins the Oklahoma program after a successful high school career in Oklahoma and Texas. Before moving to Oklahoma, Alford stood out at Southlake Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas where she was named to the Northwest Classic All-Tournament Team and also awarded with the Best Setter Award. Alford was also named Academic All-District for her work in the classroom. After moving to Norman North, Alford was named the Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year, an Under Armour Second Team All-American and selected to the Oklahoma All-State Team.

“Audrey will bring a great knowledge of the game as far as knowing who to go to and distributing the ball accordingly to what she sees as our best potential hitter and give one-on-one situations,” continued Restrepo. “She is very gifted and has a very high volleyball IQ.”

Alford is no stranger to the University of Oklahoma as her father Michael is the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development. Her mother, Laura, a former Division I player and coach, also serves as the color commentator for home OU volleyball matches on Sooner Sports TV.

“Madison is extremely dynamic and very physical. We're very excited to have somebody with those capabilities to take the game on her shoulders and run with it. She is a very strong attacker with a powerful swing and overall a very good blocker.”

Drescher played a major role in leading Southlake Carroll to first place finishes in the Byron Nelson and Pearland tournaments. She was named offensive Player of the Year in the district her senior year, along with being named to the Texas All-State team. Madison's brother, Justin Drescher currently plays for the New Orleans Saints.

“Ally is one of those kids that has a 'never give up' attitude and is going to work her butt off to get on the court. She is going to apply a lot of pressure on those players that are ahead of her on the outside. She is a six-rotation outside hitter and very gifted at the point of scoring.”

At Clear Falls High School, Enneking led her team to a District Championship as well as a spot in the state semifinals, while taking home District co-MVP honors.
