IRVING, Texas – University of Oklahoma volleyball junior Kierra Holst was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. The award is the first weekly honor of her career and the first for a Sooner player in the 2014 season.

An outside hitter from Coppell, Texas, Holst tallied a career-high 23 kills in a come-from-behind upset of No. 23 Kansas at home on Saturday night. She hit .378, including a .727 attack rate on eight kills in a crucial fourth set that proved to be the turning point in Oklahoma's victory.

Holst's previous career-high in kills was 19 at Portland State on September 17, 2013.

On the season, Holst is averaging a team-high 3.17 kills per set, while hitting .258. She has added a league-leading 26 service aces, 44 digs and 13 blocks.

For the second straight season, Holst was recognized as a Preseason All-Big 12 selection. Following her rookie season in 2012, she was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team.

The last Sooner to earn the Big 12's Offensive Player of the Week award was Sallie McLaurin on November 18, 2013. McLaurin received the award five times as a senior on her way to an All-Big 12 First Team selection.

Oklahoma remains at home for a mid-week league match against TCU Wednesday, October 1 at 7:00 pm.
