Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops

Opening statement
I want to start by complimenting coach Holgorsen, his staff and his team. They played a hard fought game in a great environment. I noticed about the second quarter that they had striped the stadium; I hadn't looked before that. Again, I thought it was a great environment, and they played a really tough game.

I'm really proud of our players. They played through some adversity and persevered through it. We fought our way to tying it at halftime and then took the lead in the second half when we needed to. We played better in most parts of the game. In the last drive, we made sure that they had to milk it so that they had to limit the number of possessions for the rest of the game. There's a ton we have to get better at. It comes at a great time because we have an off week. Our guys see that. There's a lot we can improve on, but we still found a way to come in here and win in a positive way.

On Samaje Perine
Samaje was just outstanding. You know about how powerful and strong he is, but he has great vision. He had a sensational night. I'm proud of the offensive line and the big blocks that they gave us. The kickoff return was huge to steal the momentum going into halftime. These guys will all play. We're going to keep them fresh. Like tonight, when someone gets hot, he will play more. We like having fresh legs out there too, though. He's a strong young man with great stamina. He had great offseason conditioning. He's powerful, and he works at his conditioning.

On the second half
We didn't let them get deep balls in the second half and that made the difference. That was really the biggest part of the first half.

On the defense
Dana (Holgorsen) does a great job with different formations and what he's trying to do. We did deploy a couple different coverages to help us out, and they were effective. We made a couple adjustments scheme wise, and they helped us get a fumble in the fourth quarter. It helped a little bit.

On the momentum
It gave us a big lift. You go into halftime, everyone knows it's an even game and we're getting the ball out of the half. I believe we went down and scored. That was big to then gain the lead.

On kicker Michael Hunnicutt
He's the new all‐time leading scorer in Oklahoma history. He's been great and steady with a very strong leg. Not that I want
