Embedded: Sterling Shepard

SoonerSports.com sat down with junior wide receiver Sterling Shepard to get to know him a bit better off-the-field.

Q: What do you like to do when you aren't playing football?
A: "I ride horses a little bit, and I like to play basketball sometimes."

Q: You ride horses? How long have you done that?
A: "I've been riding since I was about nine or 10 years old. I used to have one of my own, but I just sold it recently because I haven't had time to ride. I sold him about a year ago or so."

Q: Everybody has one, so what is your favorite chick flick?
A: "My favorite chick flick? Oh man, it has to be the Notebook!"

Q: While we're on that topic, do you have a celebrity man crush?
A:" Shoot, it has to be the Rock. Yeah, I love his movies."

Q: Do you have any embarrassing songs on your iPod?
A: "Party in the USA. I like me a little Miley Cyrus."

Q: Do you have a prized possession?
A: "Right now it's our new iPads we just got. I love that thing. It will be a lot easier because we don't have to carry around those binders anymore.”

Q: What is the best advice you've ever received?
A: "Just to stay humble always."

Q: How important is that when you're always in the spotlight?
A: "It's so important. I tell that to younger kids all the time when I get to go speak. Just stay humble."

Q: Who would you trade lives with for a day?
A: "I'd trade lives probably with... it would have to be a rapper. No! It would be [boxer] Floyd Mayweather because he's the money man. He has everything in the palm of his hands!"

Q: What is your favorite Coach Stoops quote?
A: "I love when he says, 'You're done!' Nah... but my favorite quote from a coach is from Coach Schmidtty (Strength Coach Jerry Schmidt). He calls everybody Big Dawg!"

Q: What do you like best about OU?
A: "Just how close knit it is and how it feels like a family around here."

Q: Is it a family with all sports? Which sport is your favorite to watch?
A: "It is! Oh man, I definitely like basketball. I like to watch both the men and women play."

Q: "So who is your favorite Sooner basketball player?
A: "Heyyy! It has to be Buddy Love (OU junior guard Buddy Hield)!"
