NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma senior tight end Blake Bell was honored Thursday at the 30th annual National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Awards Dinner at the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.

Bell was one of eight collegiate players from the state honored as NFF Jim Thorpe Oklahoma College Players of the Year. The Wichita, Kan., native has spent the past three seasons as quarterback for the Sooners, playing in 31 games (eight starts).

He led Oklahoma to a pivotal road win at Notre Dame and came on in relief for an injured Trevor Knight to guide the Sooners to the game-winning drive at Oklahoma State. Bell switched to tight end for spring drills, and will work at that new position during his senior campaign.

During his three seasons at Oklahoma, Bell has been named to the All-Academic Big 12 First Team twice, as well as being named the 2012 Insight Bowl Offensive MVP.
