FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.-- Avione Allgood and Tyler Renton got the final weekend of the regular season started with wins as the Sooner javelin throwers competed in the Arkansas Twilight on Friday.
Allgood won with a personal best of 179-7. Liz Herrs improved her PR for the second time this season as she finished behind Allgood with a 177-8. Ashley Kowalewski rounded out the competition for the women with a 145-10 effort, good for a fourth place finish.
Renton led a 1-2-3 Sooner finish with a 216-9. Garrett Snow placed second with a 215-10 and TJ Noonan, with a 204-8, finished third.
Meanwhile, a bigger group of Sooners traveled to Starkville, Miss., for the Jace LaCoste Invitational. Action began tonight with select field events and some distance events.
Charles Nguyen set a personal best in the men's hammer throw with a 186-11 and finished second. Will Hogston ran a 14:55.84 in the 5000-meter run en route to his own second-place finish.
Competition will continue tomorrow in Mississippi with field events beginning at noon and track events at 2:45 p.m. Live results from the Jace LaCoste Invitational will be available at branchsportstech.com
