LaNesia Williams came off the bench to score a career-high 14 points in 20 minutes of play. The freshman sank 6-of-10 from the field, including a 3-pointer, and grabbed a rebound. She was one of only two Sooners to reach double-figures.

ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands – After a frenzy start, Oklahoma fell behind to USF early and, despite a valiant second-half push, never regained its footing in an 83-68 loss in the first round of the Paradise Jam Thursday at the University of Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

Senior Sharane Campbell-Olds scored a team-high 16 points – 14 coming in the first half.

Ten players saw action for the Sooners (3-1) with the freshmen trio of Gabbi Ortiz, McKenna Treece and LaNesia Williams accounting for 27 points. Williams was the only other Oklahoma player to break double-figures, scoring a career-high 14.

Oklahoma's only lead in the contest came when Ortiz drained a 3-pointer to give the Sooners the early 3-2 edge at 19:19.

The Sooners battled back from a 38-29 halftime deficit though to pull within five at 43-38 at 15:40. The swing in momentum was due in large part to Treece who hit back-to-back buckets, including a short jumper to get the lead down to five.

The Bulls (4-1) responded with a 25-10 run to blow open a 20-point advantage at 68-48 with less than seven minutes remaining in the contest.

Oklahoma was outrebounded 51-29 and turned the ball over 17 times. The Sooners finished the game shooting 38.6 percent (27-of-70) from the field, while the Bulls hit 45.8 percent (27-of-59). USF also hit 24-of-31 free throws – 77.4 percent. OU hit a subpar 4-of-12 (33.3).

USF' was led by Courtney Williams' 27 points. Alisa Jenkins added a double-double of 21 points and 11 boards.

The Sooners return to action Friday playing the University of Kentucky in the second round game of the Paradise Jam Tournament. The 9/10 Wildcats fell to Illinois 77-71 Thursday. The game is set to tip at 5 p.m. PT.
