The first Top-25 match-up of the season arrives at McCasland Field House when the No. 24 Sooners host the No. 5 Longhorns Saturday night.

NORMAN, Okla. The No. 24 Oklahoma volleyball team returns home for the most anticipated stretch of action this season. The week begins with the Sooners annual “Pledge for a Cure” match against Iowa State Wednesday at 7:00 pm.

Oklahoma is now 17-7 overall, 8-3 in the Big 12 and alone in second place in the standings. Junior outside hitter Kierra Holst led the league with 4.62 kills per set in a 1-1 week for the Sooners on the road last week. She currently leads OU with 3.50 kills per set on a .252 hitting percentage. Redshirt-sophomore outside hitter Madison Ward is second on the team at 3.16 kills and 2.39 digs per set. Junior setter Julia Doyle paces the Oklahoma attack to 10.56 assists per set. Defensively, junior libero Taylor Migliazzo is tops on the Sooners' back row unit at 3.49 digs per set. OU ranks second in the conference, behind Texas, in team hitting percentage at .264. The Sooners look to continue their winning ways at home where they are 9-0; the only undefeated team at home remaining in the Big 12.

Iowa State registered back-to-back wins over No. 22 Kansas State and at West Virginia last week to improve to 13-9 nd 5-6. The Cyclones, who are just 3-6 in road matches, are led by outside hitter Ciara Capezio at 3.13 kills per set. Five different players average 2.00 kills per set or better, including middle blocker Alexis Conway, who hits a team-best .305, at 2.10. As a team, Iowa State leads the Big 12 in both assists and digs per set at 12.98 and 16.48, respectively. Suzanne Horner is fourth in the league in assists at 10.48, while libero Caitlin Nolan leads the Big 12 in digs at 5.57.

Pledge for a Cure

Oklahoma hosts its sixth annual “Pledge for a Cure” match to fight childhood cancer. The match, which has been played in memory of head coach Santiago Restrepo's late son Javier since 2009, will honor Rian Sanderson. Rian played club volleyball for Oklahoma Peak Performance and passed away in January after a fight with cancer at age 11. All donations will benefit the Jimmy Everest Center at OU Children's Hospital. Fan will have the opportunity do have their picture taken with the Golden Hat from the Red River Showdown for a $5 donation.

The match will be broadcast by Sooners Sports TV on FOX Sports Southwest-Plus. Veteran OU broadcasters Chad McKee and Laura Alford will have the call courtside.
