History in Hand, Murray Continues Streak

It was last week that Dallas running back DeMarco Murray became the first player in NFL history to rush for 100 or more yards in the first seven games of a season. Monday, he pushed that mark to eight with a 141-yard performance, including this 51-yard run, on 19 carries. He added a team-high 80 receiving yards on just four catches, but it wasn't enough for Dallas to avoid a 20-17 loss to Washington.

For Murray it was the 15th time in his career that he passed the century mark and 10th time in the past 13 games. He has a league-best 1,054 rushing yards this season, becoming just the eighth player in NFL history to rush for at least 1,000 yards in his team's first eight games of the season, according to ESPN Stats and Information.

Meanwhile, Murray also has an NFL-best 1,293 yards from scrimmage. That's the fifth-most by a player through his team's first eight games in league history, trailing Jim Brown (1,416 in 1963), Marshall Faulk (1,326 in 2000), O.J. Simpson (1,300 in 1975) and Priest Holmes (1,297 in 2002).

In addition to rushing yards and yards from scrimmage, Murray leads the NFL in attempts (206), attempts per game (25.8), rushing yards per game (131.8), rushing touchdowns (7), rushes for first down (51), runs of 20+ yards (8) and runs of 40+ yards (2).

Also in the contest for Dallas, tight end James Hanna caught one pass for seven yards.

For Washington, Trent Williams (left tackle) and Chris Chester (right guard) started on the offensive line, while Tress Way averaged 46.2 yards on five punts.

McCoy Becomes Highest-Paid Defensive Tackle

Tampa Bay made Gerald McCoy the highest paid defensive tackle in the league on Saturday, signing him to a seven-year, $95.2 million contract extension that runs through 2021. The deal includes $51.5 million in guarantees.

McCoy then went out and made two tackles, including an assist on a sack, but the Buccaneers fell in overtime to Minnesota, 19-13.

For the Vikings, Phil Loadholt started at right tackle in the win.
