The Sooners' road swing gets tougher with a Saturday night match in Austin, Texas against the No. 2 ranked Longhorns.

NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma faces a tall task as it looks to rebound from a road loss on Wednesday in a match-up at No. 2 Texas on Saturday night. The Sooners and the Longhorns are set for a match time of 6:00 pm, which will be broadcast on the Longhorn Network.

Oklahoma sits just a few spots out of the AVCA Top-25 with an overall record of 14-6 and 5-2 in the Big 12. Junior setter Julia Doyle leads the Sooner offense with 10.45 assists per set and has upped her average to 2.30 assists per set with a double-double in each of the first six league matches. Junior outside hitter Kierra Holst (3.26) and redshirt-sophomore outside hitter Madison Ward (3.01) are the Sooners top two offensive weapons. Ward also ranks third on OU with a 2.27 digs per set average. Junior libero Taylor Migliazzo is the Sooners' defensive leader at 3.50 digs per set, while freshman middle blocker Marion Hazelwood averages 0.91 blocks per set to go with a team-leading .327 hitting percentage.

1st Rotation – Scouting the Longhorns

Texas is a perfect 15-0 on the season and 7-0 atop the Big 12 standings. Along the way, the Longhorns have defeated No. 11 Florida, No. 9 Nebraska and No. 25 Kansas State. Two-time defending Big 12 Player of the Year Haley Eckerman leads Texas with 2.98 kills per set on a .278 hitting percentage. Middle blocker Khat Bell (2.46) and outside hitter Amy Neal (2.30) rank second and third on the team in kills per set. Middle blockers Molly McCage (1.27) and Chiaka Ogbogu (1.23) leads a Longhorn front that averages 2.97 blocks per set. Ogbogu is also hitting a team-high .399 with 1.75 kills per set.

2nd Rotation – Last Time They Met

No. 25 Oklahoma lost a Top-25 matchup to No. 1 Texas, 3-1, in front of 2,128 fans at McCasland Field House on November 2, 2013. The Longhorns won the first two sets 25-15 and 25-17. The Sooners rallied to win the third, 27-25, before falling in the fourth, 25-21. Eckerman led all players with 19 kills, while OU's Keila Rodriguez posted a double-double with 14 digs and 11 kills. Hannah Allison led a 16-block effort by UT with eight.

3rd Rotation – Milestone Tracker

Doyle has tallied 2,999 career assists and is just one away from reaching the 3,000-mark. It would make her the sixth Sooner to ever reach that mark. Against Baylor (10/18), Holst surpassed the 800-kill mark with her career total currently sitting at 815 and on well on pace for over 1,000 in her career.

4th Rotation – Ace in the Deck

Holst leads the Big 12 with 0.51 service aces per set, which ranks eighth in the nation. She set a Big 12 record and posted a career-high eight aces against Cal State Northridge (9/10). Holst has notched three-or-more in a match six times this season and is averaging 0.92 per set over the last three matches.

5th Rotation – Steady Votes

The Sooners have only cracked the AVCA Top-25 Coaches Poll once this season at No. 24 on September 1. However, they are one of just two teams in the Big 12 to appear in the poll or receive votes all eight weeks this season plus the preseason poll.

6th Rotation – Up Next

The Sooners are off on Wednesday before returning home to Norman for a 7:00 pm contest against West Virginia on Saturday, November 1.
