NORMAN -- With two of five golfers finished and the rest of round-two play suspended until tomorrow, the University of Oklahoma women's golf team ended the second day of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational tied for 16th place. The event, which will resume play Sunday at 8 a.m. EST, is being played at the 6,379-yard, par-72 UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The Sooners, who carded a round-one 299 (+11), are at +30 in the tournament, which features 10 teams ranked in the top 25 of the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. No. 1-ranked South Carolina remains in first place at 6 under. No. 6 Duke is in second place at 4 under, while No. 20 Wake Forest dropped one spot to third place at +3. All three teams have six holes left to play in the second round.

Freshman Ana Ruiz, who has two holes left to play in the second round, is leading the Sooners at 1 over in the second round and even par in the tournament. Ruiz is tied for 14th place out of 96 competitors heading into the final day of the event.

OU sophomore Alexandra Kaui was on the final green when play was postponed. Kaui is tied for 47th place at 7 over.

Sooner freshman Hannah Wood has one hole left to play in the second round and holds a share of 57th place at 9 over.

Freshman Rylee Pedigo and sophomore Maggie Neece both finished the round before play was suspended. Pedigo carded a two-round 24 over and is tied for 87th place, while Neece is tied for 91st place at +27.

Head Coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell said she is excited to see how her team responds in tomorrow's final round.

“This will be different for the girls because we are finishing up the second round in the morning,” Drouin-Luttrell said. “We're anxious to get back to the course and finish strong in the tournament.”

The Sooners will resume second-round play at 8 a.m. EST and third-round play is estimated to start at 9:15 a.m. EST. Live stats can be found at GolfStat.com.
