USAF Academy -- The No. 2 Oklahoma men's gymnastics team collected its 14th consecutive Rocky Mountain Open title by posting a season-opening score of 443.150 Saturday on the campus of the Air Force Academy.

The Sooners' team total finished ahead of No. 10 Nebraska (423.700) and No. 11 Air Force (423.100) and club teams from Arizona State (402.105) and Washington (367.300).

OU's team total is its highest since scoring 443.350 against Minnesota on Feb. 16 last season and is almost 20 points higher than the Sooners' mark at the 2013 Rocky Mountain Open.

"We had a great performance," said OU head coach Mark Williams. "I'm happy we put up a big score. We put on notice that we're going to be a very good team and will contend throughout the season."

Oklahoma earned the highest team scores of the competition on each event and had the highest individual score on five of the six events, including junior Alec Robin on floor, junior Sergey Resnick on pommel and parallel bars, junior Michael Squires on still rings and senior Raymond White on vault. In addition, junior Danny Berardini also took the all-around title with an 86.950.

"Danny was clearly our gymnast of the week," Williams said. "First time he's done the all-around at OU and he won it. He hit every routine and stuck every landing. He's just a team player and he rises up give opportunities. He looked great."

The night's highlights came on parallel bars, where the Sooners earned a team score of 76.650 - a higher score than any team in the nation garnered all of last season.

Resnick led the field with a 15.600, a marked improvement from his previous career high on p-bars of 15.050.

Every other Sooner also scored 15 or above, including two-time All-American Danny Berardini at 15.400 and freshman Allan Bower with a 15.350.

With five teams competing, OU began the meet on pommel horse, scoring a 72.350. In the fourth spot, Resnick, the reigning MPSF champion on the event, earned a 14.950. White recorded a 14.800 to add to the Sooner total.

Squires came in looking to pick up where he left off as the still rings national champion last season, earning the title with a Rocky Mountain Open record score of 15.850. After not competing all season on rings in 2013, junior Danny Berardini bested his previous career high with a 14.850. Oyama also picked up a career best with a score of 14.400.

White led the Sooners on vault with a team-high score of 14.750. He was followed by a 14.650 for Colin Van Wicklen and a 14.600 by Dylan Akers.

On high bar, junior Stanton Rehkemper earned a 14.750 to led OU, followed by junior William Clement at 14.350. The Sooners finished with a 71.500 overall.

Finishing strong, Robin set a career high with a 15.600 on floor to earn the event title. The All-American was joined by freshman Colin Van Wicklen (15.350) as the only competitors to score above a 15.000 on the night on the event.

"Certainly as a coach I can look critically and see places where we need to improve," Williams said. "By no means am I satisfied. We still have to add some difficulty if we're going to be in contention to win the national championship.

"We still have work to do, but it was a great start. I'm proud of the guys and am looking forward to our home meet next weekend."

The Sooners host their season opener next Saturday, Jan. 18, at 5 p.m. CT in the McCasland Field House. Tickets are still available or fans can watch live on SoonerSportsTV.
