COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Oklahoma volleyball sophomore Kierra Holst has been named to the 12-player roster of the USA Volleyball Women's Junior National Team for the FIVB World Championship in the Czech Republic.
A 6-foot-4 middle blocker from Coppell, Texas, Holst and the WJNT will take on Bulgaria in its Pool C opener on Friday, June 21 at SH Vodova Hall in Brno, Czech Republic. The United States is also grouped with Brazil, Mexico and Russia in Pool C.
Pool play continues through June 25 as the field is narrowed down from 20 to 16 teams. The finals are slated for June 30.
Holst played in all 33 matches as a freshman for the Sooners, starting 24. She ranked fourth on the team in kills per set with 1.91 to go with a .228 hitting percentage. On the defensive side, Holst totaled 76 blocks, including 10 solo, for a 0.66 average per set.
