NORMAN, Okla. -- The 33rd-ranked University of Oklahoma men's golf team placed seventh at the 14-team Linger Longer Invitational on Sunday, which was shortened from 54 to 36 holes due to weather. The tournament was played in Greensboro, Ga., at the 7,073-yard, par-72 Great Waters course at Reynolds Plantation.

On Saturday, play was suspended due to darkness following a rain and thunder delay earlier in the day. Resumption of the second round was delayed Sunday morning, and the decision was made to end the tournament after 36 holes.

The Sooners, who were one of six ranked squads in the field, recorded a two-round 591 (+15). They carded a 295 (+7) in Saturday's first round and followed with a 296 (+8) in round two. OU finished 31 strokes behind champion and second-ranked Alabama, which won the tournament for the third straight year.

Competing as an individual and unattached from team scoring, OU sophomore Michael Gellerman placed ninth, his best showing of the season. Gellerman scored a two-round 142 (-2) and finished five strokes off the lead. When play resumed on Sunday, Gellerman sat at 1 under par through 12 holes of the second round. He completed the round at 2 over par.

The highest team finisher for OU was freshman Beau Titsworth, who fired a two-round 147 (+3) and shared 28th place. In the second round, Titsworth recorded birdies on holes 5, 9 and 12 and just one bogey to post a 2-under-par 70.

One stroke behind Titsworth at 4 over par, Eduardo Castiello tied for 32nd place. The junior shot a 1-under-par 71 in the first round and a 77 (+5) on the last 18 holes.

Tied for 41st place, senior Will Kropp and junior Michael Schoolcraft concluded 36 holes at 6 over par. Kropp shot even par in round one and recorded a 6-over-par 78 in the second, while Schoolcraft registered 3-over-par 75s in both rounds. He carded three birdies in each round.

Senior Abraham Ancer tied for 50th place after posting a two-round 152 (+8). Ancer followed a 6-over-par performance in the first round with a 2-over-par 74.

The Sooners return to action in their last regular season tournament on Saturday, April 6, as they travel to Bryan, Texas, for The Aggie Invitational.
