| OKLAHOMA STORYLINES • The Sooners will appear in their 16th NCAA Tournament, and 14th consecutive, the nation's seventh longest active streak and 13th longest in history. Oklahoma is a No. 6 seed for the third consecutive year. • A win over Central Michigan means a potential rematch of a Nov. 14 loss to UCLA. Two wins in Columbus sends the Sooners back to Oklahoma City. Oklahoma has advanced past the NCAA First Round each of the last seven seasons. • Junior guard Aaryn Ellenberg owns OU's single-season record for 3-pointers made with 103 this season. Ellenberg made two 3-pointers against West Virginia in the Big 12 Tournament to match and then pass Erin Higgins (2003-07) for Oklahoma's career record, now 272. • The Sooners are 17-0 this season when leading at halftime; 4-11 when tied or trailing; 21-1 when their field goal percentage is higher than their opponent's; and 18-1 when holding their opponent to 40 percent or lower field goal shooting. CENTRAL MICHIGAN STORYLINES Central Michigan is making its third appearance in the NCAA Tournament and its first since consecutive appearances in 1983-84. The tournament marks the third-straight postseason trip for the Chippewas as they played in the WNIT each of the previous two seasons. CMU is still seeking its first postseason win in program history as it enters Saturday's contest 0-2 in the NCAA Tournament and 0-4 overall in postseason play. The Chippewas entered the FirstEnergy Mid-American Conference Tournament as the fourth seed and promptly defeated No. 5 Bowling Green, No. 1 Toledo and No. 3 Akron to earn their first MAC Tournament title since 1984. The conference championship is the third in program history. With its 21 wins and its NCAA Tournament appearance, Central Michigan has won 20-plus games and qualified for a postseason tournament in three-straight seasons for the first time in program history. The Chippewas have won 61 games over the last three seasons. Head Coach Sue Guevara will be back where her Division I coaching career started as she served as a Graduate Assistant for Ohio State during the 1984-85 seasons. Guevara earned a master's degree in athletic administration from Ohio State in 1985. The Chippewas and Sooners will be squaring off for the first time in program history when they take the floor Saturday morning. Senior Jessica Schroll brings experience versus the Sooners as she averaged 6.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in two career meetings versus Oklahoma as a member of Iowa State. |
