NORMAN, Okla. – Senior Sallie McLaurin (Midwest City, Okla.) has been voted to the Capital One Academic All-District Volleyball Team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). McLaurin is the 13th Sooner volleyball student-athlete to receive the honor since 2006.
McLaurin, a middle blocker on the court and health and exercise science major in the classroom, earned a spot on the District 7 Team, which is comprised of student-athletes in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. Through three year at the University of Oklahoma, McLaurin owns a 3.73 grade-point average.
This season, McLaurin is averaging a team-high 3.73 kills per set and a Big 12-leading .442 hitting percentage. She has been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on four occasions.
The last Sooner to earn Academic All-District was Suzy Boulavsky in 2010 and 2011, who was also named Academic All-America in those same years. The 2013 Academic All-America Team will be announced later this month.
Oklahoma returns to action on Saturday, November 8 at 5:00 when it visits Iowa State.
