NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma is ranked No. 5 in both the latest AP Poll and Coaches Poll released Tuesday morning. The Sooners dropped one spot from preseason No. 4 after a 24-7 win on the road in El Paso against UTEP.
Six of the remaining 11 opponents on OU's schedule are ranked including No. 9/8 West Virginia, No. 17/15 Texas, No. 18/16 Oklahoma State, No. 20/17 TCU, No. 21/20 Kansas State and No. 22 Notre Dame.
This marks the 382nd week that OU has been ranked in the Top 5 of the AP Poll, more weeks than any other team since the service began in 1936. In fact, Oklahoma is the
most illustrious program in the poll's history with the most weeks at No. 1 (101), in the Top 2 (199) and in the Top 10 (533).
