Selmon Headed For Oklahoma Sports HoF

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Oklahoma football great and two-time All-American defensive lineman Dewey Selmon will be one of six new inductees to the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame on Monday, Aug. 6, at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
Selmon, one of three legendary Selmon brothers to play at Oklahoma along with Lucious and Lee Roy, was a major part of the Oklahoma football defenses that claimed national championships in 1974 and 1975. After earning All-America honors in 1974, Dewey was a consensus choice in 1975 before graduating and playing six seasons in the NFL after being drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 2012 Induction Class includes individuals from four different sports and one contributor to the sports culture of Oklahoma. Inductees as well as Distinguished Members of the Hall of Fame will be available for media interviews and photos at a VIP reception to be held at the Jim Thorpe Museum prior to the ceremony. The 2012 Hall of Fame Inductees are:
Dewey Selmon - Former University of Oklahoma football All-American
Lynne Draper - Founder of the Jim Thorpe Association
Ferguson Jenkins - Former Major League Baseball pitcher
Pat Jones - Former Oklahoma State football coach Perry Maxwell - Golf Course Architect (deceased)
Jesse "Cab" Renick - Former Oklahoma A&M & US Olympic men's basketball star (deceased)

Danny Hodge (wrestling), J.D. Martin (track and field), Ted Owens (basketball), Lucious Selmon (football), Barry Switzer (football), Clendon Thomas (football), Billy Tubbs (basketball), Joe Washington (football) and Wayne Wells (wrestling).
The Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame was formed in 1986 and celebrates 26 years of excellence with the 2012 Induction Class. With a total of 139 members, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame represents the greatest collection of athletes and contributors in the state of Oklahoma.
