OU's Olympic History:
The University of Oklahoma has produced three past Olympic gymnasts, dating back to three-time Olympian Bart Conner. The 1981 graduate represented the United States in both 1976 and 1980 before winning it all on American soil at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Calif. In addition to helping Team USA take home Gold, Conner proved to be the world's top gymnast on parallel bars, winning individual Gold.

In 2008, Oklahoma gymnast Jonathan Horton helped the United States win Bronze at the Summer Games in Beijing, China. Horton also found individual success, taking Silver in the high bar portion of the event.

Upon graduating from BYU in 2001, current OU assistant Guard Young returned to his home state of Oklahoma to train with Williams for the Olympic Games while serving as an assistant coach for the Sooners. Young represented the United States at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, where the Americans claimed Silver.

LONDON -- Oklahoma men's gymnastics senior and United States Olympian Jake Dalton concluded his 2012 Olympic performance with a fifth-place finish in the floor exercise final. Dalton's routine earned him a score of 15.333.

Dalton, the two-time defending U.S. champion on the floor was the lone American competing Sunday. He qualified after his performance in the qualification round on July 28.

Dalton's first pass was an Arabian double layout, followed by a well-executed layout Thomas. After his side pass of one-and-a-half twist to double front full, he had a slight landing error. He finished his routine with a whip to tucked Thomas, a two-and-a-half to layout front full and dismounted with a clean triple full.

"I just wanted to go out there and have fun today," Dalton said. "I knew I'd have to be perfect to get a medal with my start value. I've done routines that would have been really close before, but it's hard to time it at the right time. I'll take fifth in the world."

"Jake did a nice floor routine in the finals," OU head coach Mark Williams said. "The first three competitors were amazing, which made medaling more difficult. Jake was great throughout the Olympic Games competitions. He was the only USA athlete to score above 15.00+ on every routine he did. I'm very proud of his performances."

Zou Kai of China won the floor exercise gold medal with a score of 15.933. Kohei Uchimura of Japan and and Russia's Denis Ablyazin, both scored a 15.800. Due to the tie-breaking procedure, Uchimura took the silver because of his higher execution score, and Ablyazin the bronze."

The individual event finals will be aired tonight on NBC in primetime, between 6 and 11 p.m. CT.

Former Sooner Jonathan Horton will perform in the high bar finals Tuesday, Aug. 7, begining at 8 a.m. CT on NBCOlympics.com. The competition will also be aired on NBC in primetime between 7 and 11 p.m. CT. Horton won the silver medal in the high bar at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
