NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma soccer team (2-1-1) hits the road for the first time in 2012 to play in the UNLV Rebel Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. OU opens the tournament against host UNLV (1-2-1) on Friday at 9 p.m. CT at Peter Johann Memorial Soccer Field. Friday's game between the Sooners and Rebels is the first in the series.

UNLV, picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West Conference preseason coaches' poll, lost its last outing, 3-0, at Kansas on Aug. 26. Prior to that game, the Rebels opened the year with a 2-0 win over Northern Arizona and followed it up with a 5-4 loss to Hawaii and a scoreless tie vs. South Dakota State.

Game 6 | vs. Northern Arizona
Oklahoma concludes the tournament on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. CT against Northern Arizona (0-3). The Sooners and Lumberjacks are scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. CT start on the UNLV campus. OU leads the series with Northern Arizona, 1-0. The Sooners topped the Lumberjacks 3-0 on the road in 2001.

The Lumberjacks are 0-3 on the season, dropping games to UNLV (2-0), Arizona State (4-0) and Arizona (3-0). Northern Arizona opens the Rebel Classic on Friday afternoon against Florida Atlantic. NAU was picked to finish in a tie for fifth place with Sacramento State in the Big Sky Conference coaches' preseason poll.

After a busy weekend, Devonshire ranks second all-time at OU with 312 career saves, second only to Catherine Wade's 345. Devonshire tied a season-high with eight stops against Vanderbilt on Sunday, preserving an undefeated weekend for the Sooners which also featured a 3-1 win over Nicholls State on Friday.

Oklahoma hits the road for the first time in 2012 this weekend with a trip to Las Vegas, Nev. OU will battle UNLV on Aug. 31 and remain on the Las Vegas campus to take on Northern Arizona on Sept. 2. The Sooners and Running Rebels have never met on the soccer field while OU leads the series with Northern Arizona, 1-0. The Sooners topped the Lumberjacks 3-0 on the road in 2001.

Last Time Out
The Sooners posted an undefeated weekend that started with a 3-1 win over Nicholls State on Friday. Sophomore Kelly Price came off the bench to score two goals, upping her career total to three. Renae Cuellar also scored in the game and she leads the team with three scores. On Sunday, Samantha Howell gave OU an early 1-0 lead in the first five minutes against Vanderbilt, but the Commodores found the equalizer in the second half and the teams went scoreless in the two overtime periods.

Next Week
Oklahoma returns home to continue a stretch that features six of the first eight games of the season being played in the friendly confines of John Crain Field. On Friday, Sept. 7, OU hosts Bedlam rival Oklahoma State, ranked No. 3 nationally this week, at 7 p.m. The non-conference game is the first of two meetings this season as the Cowgirls will host the Sooners in a Big 12 game on Sept. 30.

On Sunday, Sept. 9, OU hosts another in-state rival with Oral Roberts coming to town. The Sooners and Golden Eagles will tangle at 1 p.m.

Potter Posts Career Win No. 90
In his 10th season coaching at the Division I level, Matt Potter recorded his 90th career victory on Friday with the 3-1 win over Nicholls State. Potter is 90-70-27 in his DI head coaching career and is the first Sooner head coach to win his debut game.
