ATHENS, Ga. -- Costin Paval and Dane Webb improved to 18-3 on the year and will challenge Ohio State's Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola in the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championships Sunday after the duo upset Stanford's Bradley Klahn and Ryan Thacher on Friday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the University of Georgia campus.
The OU duo, ranked 10th-nationally, advanced to tomorrow's semifinals after edging Stanford's fourth-ranked tandem. Webb and Paval took the first set, 7-5, but narrowly dropped the second, 7-6(4). The Sooners stormed back to take the final set, 6-3.
Webb, a freshman, and Paval, a junior,
will challenge the Buckeye's Buchanan and Rola, the nation's top overall doubles team, tomorrow as they look to advance to the finals. The OSU tandem routed Kentucky's seventh-ranked Panav Jha and Eric Quigley, 6-3, 6-4, to earn a spot in the semifinals.
