ANN ARBOR, Mich.- Oklahoma rowing closed out regular season action Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich. against No. 3 Michigan and No. 6 Ohio State. The novice eight took one race against Michigan with a time of 7:18.35 while the other OU boats finished behind its competition.
"Michigan and Ohio State are two very respected programs and we knew going into this race that they'd be very fast," OU Head Coach Leeanne Crain said. "We've had a few setbacks in the past week with injuries and illnesses but hope to be healthy and back on track in the coming weeks as we prepare for Big 12's and C-USA."
The Sooners' varsity eight finished with a time of 6:57.24 to Ohio State's 6:41.47 time and the second varsity eight finished with a time of 7:06.84 to Ohio State's time of 6:48.2.
The varsity four completed the day with times of 8:13.07 and 8:23.04, while the second varsity four finished with times of 8:08.92 and 8:18.46.
The novice eight finished just two seconds behind Ohio State with a time of 7:08.99 to Ohio State's time of 7:06.8 in the morning session and the second novice eight finished with times of 7:41.99 ahead of Michigan's third novice with a time of 7:55.96 for the morning session
"The novice eight is really coming together and performed very well today," OU Head Coach Leeanne Crain said.
OU will take a week off before hosting the Big 12 Championships in Oklahoma City on April 28. Oklahoma placed second behind Texas at last year's Big 12 Championships. Competition will kick off at 9:40 a.m. on the Oklahoma City River. Admission to the event is free.
