Ricketts Named National Player of the Week

NORMAN, Okla. — Oklahoma's Keilani Ricketts was named the Louisville Slugger Division I National Player of the Week for games played Feb. 27-March 4 the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced on Tuesday. The honor comes after Ricketts led Oklahoma in the circle and at the plate as the Sooners went 5-0 last week with wins over North Texas, LSU and Iowa.
Ricketts went 4-0 in her four starts and recorded her first save of the season in the lone game she did not start. The junior from San Jose, Calif., pitched back-to-back one-hitters against North Texas and LSU while striking out at least 10 batters in all four games started and six of the seven Iowa batters faced in her save. For the week, Ricketts had 54 strikeouts in 30.1 innings. She ended the week with an ERA of 0.46 while batters
Ricketts helped her own cause at the plate, leading OU with a batting average of .429 over the five-game stretch, recording six hits including two home runs and two doubles. Ricketts had four runs and four walks on the week.
This week's award marks the second National Player of the Week honor of Ricketts' career, having previously earned the award on May 10 of last season.
Ricketts and the Sooners host Austin Peay on Tuesday at 5 p.m. Tickets begin at just $4 and fans will be treated to 50 cent hot dogs and Cokes.
