NORMAN, Okla. – The second-ranked Oklahoma women's gymnastics team earned a conference-best nine spots on the 2012 All-Big 12 Gymnastics Team announced by the league Wednesday.
This marks the fifth straight season that OU led the conference in All-Big 12 selections. The Sooners have had at least eight selections in all five years.
The All-Big 12 squad consists of the top three conference gymnasts with the highest regional qualifying score (RQS) in each event and the top two in the all-around.
Seniors Megan Ferguson and Sara Stone earned All-Big 12 honors on all three events they compete.
Ferguson was selected on bars, beam and floor, while Stone was named All-Big 12 on vault, beam and floor.
Brie Olson earned the honor on both vault and bars while Taylor Spears was selected on beam.
Ferguson has 10 career All-Big 12 selections. The Olathe, Kan., native has earned all-conference honors on bars and beam all four years and made the team for floor the last two seasons.
Stone has earned All-Big 12 honors on vault all four seasons of her career and is currently ranked No. 1 in the country on the apparatus. Stone also made the all-conference team for floor in 2011.
Spears was selected for beam for the second straight season while Olson earned her first career All-Big 12 honor.
OU starts the postseason playing host to the 2012 Big 12 Championship on Saturday, March 24 at 4 p.m., at the Lloyd Noble Center.
