Ferguson Named AAI Award Finalist

NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma gymnast Megan Ferguson was named one of six finalists for the AAI Award, announced by American Athletic, Inc., Wednesday.

The AAI Award recognizes the most outstanding senior female gymnast in the country and is voted on by every NCAA head coach.

The field was narrowed down to six finalists this week.  Joining Ferguson as finalists are, Kat Ding of Georgia, Amy Glass of Boise State, Leslie Mak of Oregon State, Jaime Pisani of Arkansas and Geralen Stack-Eaton of Alabama.

Ferguson is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation on floor, No. 2 on beam and No. 3 on bars.  The five-time All-American has won 20 event titles this season and has scored a 9.9 or higher in 20 of her 36 routines. 

Ferguson will make her final appearance at the Lloyd Noble Center Saturday as the Sooners begin the postseason by hosting the 2012 Big 12 Championship in Norman, March 24 at 4 p.m.

Ferguson is a two-time Big 12 individual champion on beam and has helped OU win two Big 12 team titles in her career.

Tickets for the 2012 Big 12 Championship are on sale now and are just $10 for adults and $5 for youth.
