The win is Oklahoma's fifth shutout of the year as Keilani Ricketts moved to 4-1 on the year in the circle with her third shutout of the year. Ricketts struck out nine while giving up five hits. The Oklahoma bats gave Ricketts five runs and eight hits
Oklahoma got on the board first in the bottom of the second with help from an Aztecs' error. A two-out Brianna Turang bouncer to the circle with Javen Henson and Kelley Reeves on base was overthrown to first by SDSU pitcher Bailey Micetich before bouncing along the first base fence and past the SDSU right fielder. All three Sooners on the base path made the turn around third with Turang coming in just before the Aztec throw.
In the fourth, freshman Kelley Reeves led got on base after being hit by a pitch where she was replaced by pinch runner Callie Parsons. After a Turang sacrifice bunt moved Parsons to second, freshman Lauren Chamberlain knocked in her 12th run of the season, but this time as the second batter in the Oklahoma lineup. Chamberlain, who had batted leadoff the first seven games of the season, sent a shot up the middle and Parsons raced home for the Sooners' fourth run of the game.
OU got its fifth and final run in the bottom of the sixth as Martinez led off with a bunt before stealing second. A Reeves single up the middle sent Martinez home where she beat the throw from center. Reeves moved to second as Martinez scored before being stranded on third to end the innings.
The Sooners are scheduled to play UC Davis beginning at 8:30 p.m. PST Thursday night before returning to action on Friday with games against Boise State at 3:30 p.m. PST and No. 14 Stanford at 6 p.m. PST.
