PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- No. 6 Oklahoma won its second five-inning, run-rule game in as many tries as Brittany Willimas hit two two-run home runs to help defeat Boise State, 9-0, in five innings at the Cathedral City Classic. The win was Oklahoma's ninth of the year as they moved to 9-1 on the year while Boise State fell to 8-5 in OU's third straight shut out.

The win marked Oklahoma's first back-to-back run-rule games since defeating North Texas, 9-1, and Iowa State, 13-0, in back-to-back five-inning games on May 5 and 7 in 2011, after OU defeated UC Davis 10-0 in five innings late Thursday night.

Michelle Gascoigne got her second straight win for the Sooners to move to 5-0 on the season, giving up just two hits in five innings while striking out nine Broncos. Williams hit two-run home runs in both the first and fifth innings, her second multi-home run game of her career and her first as a sophomore.

The Sooners got off to a quick start against the Broncos with four runs in the first inning as the first five batters reached safely. After Destiny Martinez was thrown out at home on a Jessica Shults' fielders choice, Keilani Ricketts singled up the middle to send Shults to third and Lauren Chamberlain who had been at third home for Oklahoma's first run of the game.

With Brittany Williams at the plate, Shults and Ricketts took advantage of an error by the Boise catcher who sent an errant throw towards left field in an attempt to pickoff Shults. Shults scored and Shults advanced to third and on the next pitch Williams lifted the ball into the sunny California sky and over the right field fence for her second home run of the season and a 4-0 Oklahoma lead.

After Boise State's Lela Work took over in the circle for starter Aubray Zell to start the second, Oklahoma continued to update the scoreboard by scoring three runs in the second. With one out down, Ali Vandever was hit by a pitch before stealing second and advancing to third on a Martinez single to left field. Chamberlain followed with her second double of the season to send Vandever home and Martinez to third.

Shults followed with two RBIs on a single to deep center that scored Martinez and Chamberlain. The Sooners put two more in scoring position after Shults advanced to second on a wild pitch before a Ricketts single sent her to third. Ricketts was replaced at first by pinch runner Erica Sampson who promptly stole second before a Williams pop up to third and an Allee Allen strikeout stranded the two.

Williams ended the game in the fifth when she sent her second ball over the right field fence to end the game as a run rule and send Oklahoma to its ninth victory.
