OU Releases Full 2012 Football Schedule

NORMAN, Okla -- The University of Oklahoma announced its three-game 2012 non-conference football schedule today, one day after the Big 12 released its 2012 nine-game conference schedule for the Sooners. Oklahoma announced non-conference games against the University of Texas at El Paso, Florida A&M and Notre Dame.
Below is Oklahoma's full 2012 schedule showing all Saturdays from September 1 through December 1. Game times will be determined at a later date due to television consideration.

"We have a philosophy of playing a challenging schedule on a yearly basis that puts our team in the best possible situation to make a run at a championship," said OU Head Coach Bob Stoops.
"I know that Joe Castiglione puts our program's best interests at the forefront when scheduling our opponents and it shows with the quality of teams on our schedule. We look forward to another challenging year and hope our fans reflect the excitement we have for this year's schedule."
The Sooners will open the 2012 season on Sept. 1 in El Paso, Texas versus UTEP in OU's first ever regular-season trip to the city. OU is 2-0 against the Miners with both wins in Norman under Bob Stoops in 2002 (68-0) and 2000 (55-14). Oklahoma has played three times in the Sun Bowl in El Paso with the last visit coming in 2009, a 31-27 win over Stanford.
Oklahoma will open its 2012 home slate on Sept. 8 versus Florida A&M in the first ever meeting between the two schools.
After four Big 12 Conference games, OU plays host to its third and final non-conference foe as it welcomes Notre Dame to Norman for the first time since 1966 on Oct. 27. The two historic programs have faced each other nine times with the Fighting Irish owning a 8-1 series lead.
The last meeting between the two teams came on Oct. 2, 1999, a game Notre Dame won 34-30 in South Bend, Ind. The two have played a total of four times in Norman with Notre Dame capturing all four games, the last a 38-0 win on Oct. 22, 1966.
Oklahoma opens up spring practice on Monday, March 5 with its annual Spring Game slated for Saturday, April 14. Tickets for the event are on sale and are priced at just $5 each through April 10 before going up to $10 after that. Tickets can be purchased on SoonerSports.com or by calling the OU Athletics Ticket Office at (405) 325-2424 or (800) 456-GoOU.
Oklahoma students will be admitted to the game free of charge with a valid student ID. Members of the Sooner Kids Club and children five and under will also be admitted free. For more information on joining the Sooners Kids Club, call (405) 325-6353.
