Classic Oklahoma-Florida State Video

NORMAN, Okla. -- In advance of OU's showdown with Florida State Saturday night, we take a look back at some of the classic moments in the series.

The Sooners and Seminoles have met on six previous occasions, including last year in Norman and the 2001 Orange Bowl. View highlights from the last two meetings direct from SoonerSports.com, as well as video from the 1981 and 1965 games found on YouTube.

Sept. 11, 2010 | Oklahoma 47, FSU 17

Perhaps if the win had come against a team other than the Seminoles -- with Mark Stoops coaching the defense -- it would have felt a lot more satisfying for OU's head coach.

In the first meeting between the two programs since the 2000 national title game, the No. 10 Sooners rolled to a 47-17 win in Norman. Landry Jones threw for 380 yards and four TDs as OU won its 32nd straight game at home.

Jan. 3, 2001 | Oklahoma 13, FSU 2

No. 1 Oklahoma used a smothering defense to shut down the third-ranked Seminoles and quarterback Josh Heupel generated enough offense to lead the Sooners to a perfect season and the program's seventh national title.

Quentin Griffin scored the clinching touchdown with 8:30 to play after Roy Williams and the OU defense forced a Florida State turnover. LB Torrance Marshall was named the game's MVP.

Jan. 1, 1981 | Oklahoma 18, FSU 17

With the Seminoles up 17-10 late in the fourth quarter, OU was forced to start deep in its own territory. That's when quarterback J.C. Watts and the Sooner offense went to work.

Watts hit Steve Rhodes in the end zone for a TD with less than a minute remaining. Rather than play for a tie, Oklahoma elected to go for two. This time, Watts found a wide open Forrest Valora to give the Sooners the victory in one of the greatest Orange Bowl games in history.

Jan. 1, 1980 | Oklahoma 24, FSU 7

After Florida State took a 7-0 first-quarter lead, OU unleashed 24 unanswered points to knock off the top-ranked Seminoles. J.C. Watts was named the Orange Bowl offensive MVP, rushing for more than 100 yards and scoring on a 61-yard option play. Bud Hebert, who recorded three interceptions, earned the award on defense. Billy Sims wrapped up his brilliant collegiate career by scoring on a 22-yard pitch.

Sept. 25, 1976 | Oklahoma 24, FSU 9

In Bobby Bowden's first season at the helm of the Florida State program, No. 4 Oklahoma handed the Seminoles a 24-9 loss in Norman. The Sooners racked up 513 yards in total offense, 455 of which came on the ground. Horace Ivory led the charge with 112 yards on just nine carries. Oklahoma went on to a 9-2-1 overall record while FSU finished 5-6, Bowden's only losing season in 34 years at Florida State.

Jan. 2, 1965 | Florida State 36, OU 19

In the first meeting between the schools, Florida State used a sophisticated passing attack to win easily in the Gator Bowl. To add insult to injury, four of the Seminoles' five TD passes were thrown on fourth-down plays.

Legendary FSU wide receiver Fred Biletnikoff finished the game with 13 receptions for 192 yards and four TDs. Ben Hart led the Sooners with six catches for 165 yards, including a 95-yard TD in the fourth quarter.
