NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma soccer program was selected as one of two sites for ESPNU's television coverage during the 2011 season, the Big 12 Conference announced Tuesday. The ESPNU package features the Sooners' home contest versus Missouri on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.

It marks the first home contest to be televised from John Crain Field at the OU Soccer Complex. The athletics department completed Phase II of the OU Soccer Complex in 2006, providing the Sooners with one of the premier Division I soccer facilities in the nation. The stadium, which seats 3,500, will host 10 regular season games in 2011. Season tickets are now on sale through the OU Athletics Ticket Office.

"We are excited to showcase our program and facility on national television," said OU Head Coach Nicole Nelson, the 2010 Co-Big 12 Coach of the Year. "It's no secret that we have one of the top facilities in the country, and this allows more people to experience that atmosphere. The exposure is beneficial not only to OU, but also the Big 12 Conference, which is one of the most competitive leagues in the country."

In addition to the Sooners' game on Oct. 16, ESPNU will air live from College Station, Texas, as Oklahoma State battles Texas A&M on Oct. 23.

The 2010 campaign was a season of firsts for the Sooner Soccer team under third-year head coach Nicole Nelson. OU posted double-digit wins for the first time since 2005. The Sooners returned to the Big 12 Tournament for the first time since 2006 and advanced to the program's first conference championship game. Despite falling just short of its first Big 12 Championship following a 5-4 loss in penalty kicks, OU clinched a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history (2003).

Oklahoma started the 2010 campaign as the Big 12 coaches' pick to finish 10th in the league's preseason poll. The Sooners finished the regular season with a program-best five wins in conference play. OU had the league's third-best record but virtue of a tiebreaker with Nebraska, clinched the No. 4 seed in the Big 12 Tournament. Prior to falling to Oklahoma State in the Big 12 title game, the Sooners knocked off then-No. 21 Texas and then-No. 6 Texas A&M in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.

The program's highest finish in the Big 12 was coupled with OU tying the 2005 Sooners for the most goals scored in a season with 37.
