OU's Habern on Rimington Watch List

Trio of Sooners on Lombardi Watch List

July 12, 2011 | Football

NORMAN, Okla. -- Three Oklahoma Sooners have been named to the preseason watch list for the 2011 Lombardi Award. Offensive lineman Stephen Good, center Ben Habern and linebacker Travis Lewis all made the list.

Good, a guard, recorded 81 knockdowns while playing 500 snaps last season.  Habern was a starter in all 14 games and earned honorable mention All-Big 12 status, and Lewis is one of the leading tacklers in OU history.  The team leader in that statistic each of the last three seasons, Lewis needs just 82 more to crack the school's career top 10 list.

Eligibility for the Rotary Lombardi Award is limited to down linemen, end-to-end, either on offense of defense, who set up no farther than 10 yards to the left or right of the ball, and linebackers who set up no farther than five yards deep from the line of scrimmage.

The 42nd Rotary Lombardi Award will be held on December 6-7, 2011 at Reliant Center in Houston, Texas.

Three Sooners have previously won the Lombardi Award: Tommie Harris (2003), Tony Casillas (1985) and Lee Roy Selmon (1975).
