OU, Tulsa Radio Affiliates Extend Contract

NORMAN, Okla. -- OU Athletics has found a home in Tulsa with Clear Channel Radio, and that relationship is now solidified for another five years. Learfield Sports' Sooner Sports Properties, OU's multi-media rights holder, and Clear Channel announced the extension today.
The agreement runs through 2016, and KMOD (97.5 FM) and KTBZ (AM 1430), KAKC (AM 1300) will carry the programming.
"We are delighted to extend our agreement with Clear Channel," said Joe Castiglione, OU's Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Athletics Director. "KMOD, KTBZ & KAKC have been very good partners for us, and this is a relationship that has been beneficial for everyone involved.
"The Tulsa market, with thousands of OU fans and alumni, is very important to us. It is a great feeling to know that our radio rights are in such good hands and that all of the Sooner faithful in and around Tulsa have such great access to our programs."
KMOD-FM and KTBZ-AM will carry each football broadcast, while KMOD-FM will carry select men's basketball non-conference games and a conference "game of the week." KTBZ-AM will air all of the men's basketball games.
"The Buzz Sports Networks (KTBZ-AM & KAKC-AM) and 97-5 KMOD are excited to continue our partnership with Learfield Sports and serve as the flagship stations in Tulsa for University of Oklahoma football and basketball," said Clear Channel Radio Vice President, Regional Market Manager Bill Hurley. "We know OU fans throughout northeastern Oklahoma will enjoy the great coverage of Sooners sports that our stations will be providing."
The agreement also calls for a minimum of 10 women's basketball games to be aired on KAKC-AM and/or KTBZ-AM and a minimum of 10 baseball games to be aired on KAKC-AM and/or KTBZ-AM.
KTBZ-AM will carry the football and basketball coaches shows, Coach's Corner Show and Sooner Sports Today.
