NORMAN, Okla. - OU senior captain Michael Rocha, who was named one of 30 semifinalists on Tuesday by USA Baseball for the 2011 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award, collected his first All-America honor on Thursday.

Collegiate Baseball named Rocha to the 2011 Louisville Slugger All-America second team. The publication is the first in 2011 to release its list of All-Americans.

The Buda, Texas, native is the 52nd All-American in OU history and the fifth under head coach Sunny Golloway. Rocha's honor marks the third straight year that a Sooner appeared on one of the All-America lists, joining J.T. Wise, Jamie Johnson and Ryan Duke in 2009 and Garrett Buechele in 2010.

There have also been four freshman All-Americans under Golloway's watch since 2005 (Kody Kaiser-2005, Aaron Baker-2007, Garrett Buechele - 2009 and Max White-2010).

In 2011, Rocha leads the Big 12 with five complete games and ranks third with 10 wins and fourth with a 1.79 ERA. He was voted a All-Big 12 first team by the coaches, The Oklahoman and The Waco Tribune.

He has lasted at least seven innings in 11 of his 15 starts and struck out five or more batters in 11 outings. Rocha is also on the watch list for the College Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher of the Year and ranks third all-time at Oklahoma with 27 career wins.

Along with Burch Smith (10-3), Rocha gives OU its first pair of 10-game winners since 2006 when Daniel McCutchen (10-8) and Steven Guerra (11-4) led the Sooners to their first Super Regional at No. 1 Rice. The Sooners have only had two 10-game winners in a single season on four other ocassions.

Fans can follow online and vote for Rocha on the GoldenSpikesAward.com as the list of 30 players is narrowed to three finalists on Monday, June 6.

For the first time ever, the GSA will be awarded live on MLB Network.  The presentation will begin at 6:00 p.m. ET on MLB Tonight, Friday, July 15.  The three finalists for the award will be at MLB Network's studios for the presentation, which will feature interviews, video highlights and the announcement of the winner.  Online footage of the event also will be available via GoldenSpikesAward.com and MLB.com.
